A hand-knotted Persian Tabriz Mahi area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, cornflower, gold, umber, olive, blush, mulberry, and sapphire and centered with a floral pendant medallion. The field is densely populated with a herati pattern over sapphire and grounded by compound selvedges with scalloped edges. It is framed by several floral meander guard borders, which flank the primary border of stylized herati over sapphire. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges that have been reinforced with leather and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
