A finely hand-knotted Persian Kashan Dabir wool and silk area rug. This rug has a prayer design, and it is rendered in a palette of indigo, cranberry, ivory, powder blue, salmon, gold, and wheat. The indigo colored niche field features a large central vase, accompanied with smaller ones, each with stacked floral arrangements, along with flowering vines, and sprays. The lower portion of the field features a cranberry grounded mina khani design with weeping floral motifs, flanked by powder blue grounded spandrels infilled with flowering vines. The niche is capped with cranberry colored spandrels, with a star medallion and more arabesque styled vine-work. Framing the elaborate field is a main border designed with cartouches, floral arrangements, boteh, and an array of flower motifs, as well as floral meander guard borders, and sawtooth minor borders. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a silk kilim skirt with silk warp fringe to the ends. This rug has a label that reads ‘Vegetable Dye’.
