Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Qum garden panel wool with silk area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, sky blue, aqua, wheat, walnut, indigo, wine, and silver. The paneled field features an array of niche designed rectangles, each infilled with intricate floral motifs, along with some displaying bird, chandelier, column, and vase motifs. The garden theme flows to the main ivory grounded border, while featuring antelope, deer, birds, trees, and a number of blossoms, a similar design is featured to the guard borders that are highly detailed with birds, floral, and foliate motifs. There are also fine carnation meander minor borders, as well as barber pole borders, and an inscription to one end. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton kilim skirt with a fine cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
