Framing the field are three patterned borders, including a wide main border featuring cartouches filled with songbirds and flowering plants, set against a taupe background with arabesqued vine work. The palette is cerulean, hunter green, cream, taupe, mocha and crimson. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with an embroidered kilim skirt and knotted ivory warp fringe.
