Hand-Knotted Inscribed Persian Isfahan Pictorial Wool and Silk Accent Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Isfahan wool and silk accent rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of wheat, taupe, camel, mahogany, slate, indigo, ivory, sand, wine, and rust. The wheat colored field features an asymmetrical design that is densely filled with a number of deer, and goats, as well as intricately detailed birds that are perched throughout trees, and in-flight. The field also features flowering branches, sprays, and mother-daughter boteh motifs, while enclosed by three spandrels, forming a niche-like design. Framing the field as a whole is a taupe grounded main border designed with boteh motifs accompanied by birds, and purling leafy vine-work. There are also scrolling leaf meander guard borders, and minor laleh abbasi borders, as well as an inscription to the top borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a silk kilim skirt with silk warp fringe to the ends. This rug is labeled ‘Genuine Hand Woven Oriental Rug’.
