Hand-Knotted Sino-Persian Wool and Silk Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Sino-Persian wool and silk area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, ivory, indigo, aqua, olive, rose, sky blue, celedon, and peach. The cranberry colored field begins with a lobed pendant medallion infilled with a number of floral motifs, along with scrolling leafy and flowering vines throughout with added palmettes. There are also ivory grounded spandrels with coordinating designs. Framing the field is a main indigo grounded stylized herati border, along with floral meander guard borders, and sawtooth minor borders. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a silk kilim skirt with silk warp fringe to the ends. This rug is labeled ‘Chinese’.
