A finely hand-knotted Turkish Hereke silk accent rug. This elaborate rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, aqua, rose, indigo, cranberry, carnation, celedon, lavender, cornsilk, deep mauve, and pine. The ivory colored field features a garden design beginning with ornate flowering tree of life motifs with colorful perched birds, as well as birds at the bottom in the tall grass. The field also features three aqua grounded medallions with floral shaped edges, each infilled with intricately detailed roses, and other blooms, along with baskets and birds. The garden theme flows to the indigo grounded main border that is designed with floral sprays, blooms, and birds in a meandering pattern. There are also a number of guard borders including designs of carnation meander, sawtooth, checked, and laleh abbasi. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a silk kilim skirt with silk warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
