A hand-knotted Chinese accent rug. This silk pile rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, cornflower, sage, eggshell, coffee, and ivory and centered by a circular medallion infilled with the Chinese symbol for longevity and flanked by semi-circle pendants. The curvilinear field is densely populated with ornate palmettes and arabesqued foliage and is grounded with eggshell spandrels, each bearing a large lotus palmette. It is framed by compound geometric and floral borders, while the primary border features a resolved floral cartouche motif. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a short kilim skirt, and long silk warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
