A finely hand-knotted Sino-Persian silk pictorial garden rug. This accent rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, madder red, aqua, rose, walnut, sand, olive, apricot, teal, camel, carnation, stone, sepia, and slate. The elaborate field features a layered landscape design densely filled with foliage, floral motifs, people, along with farm and exotic animals, as well as waterways, buildings, and a bridge. The highly detailed field is framed in a main cartouche patterned field grounded by madder red, and featuring vignettes of animals and floral motifs. There are also meandering vine-work guard borders, and sawtooth minor borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a silk warp fringe to the ends. This rug is labeled ‘Chinese’.
