A French Edition wood engraving on paper titled Hell Canto 25 – Le Centaure from The Divine Comedy series by well-listed artist Salvador Dalí (1904–1989). This work depicts a centaur with a pained expression despite the lack of facial features. The piece has a Les Heures Claires watermark. The piece is presented matted in a gold tone wood frame beneath acrylic glass, wired on the verso. This piece is included in the Catalogue Raisonné, “The Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dali” by Albert Field, catalogue pages 189-200.

Dalí was born in Figueres, Spain to Salvador Dalí y Cusi, a lawyer and notary, and Felipa Domenech Ferres. His mother encouraged his artistic pursuits a eccentricities. In 1922 Dalí enrolled at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain. It was during this time that he went to Paris started interacting with Picasso, Magritte, and Miro leading to his first Surrealist phase. Dalí is best known for his Surrealist painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures. His works are housed in many private collections and museums across the globe.
