An original abstract acrylic painting on canvas titled Sonar: Lost City of Atlantis by Cincinnati-born artist Bernard Plogman (1923 – 1986). This work features a grid of dark lines to the background painted over in expressive brush strokes in deep pastel tones of yellows, oranges, blues, and pinks, creating the impression of a sonar image. The piece is signed in paint by the artist to the lower right corner, and signed again with title and media on the back. It is presented in a wooden floating frame with a hanging wire mounted to the verso. Bernard Plogman (1923 – 1986) was an art professor and Head of the Fine Arts Department at the University of Dayton.
