Hand-Knotted Persian Karaja Wool Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Karaja wool carpet runner. This rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, azure, white, clementine, ochre, and black. The crimson colored field begins with five medallions alternating in a square and a hexagonal shape, each featuring different designs including hooked elements, branched forms, and floral motifs. The remainder of the field is infilled with an abundance of floral motifs, and guls that separate the medallions. Framing the field is a main leaf and blossom border, along with a pair of Hamadan guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a twisted cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
