A hand-knotted Persian Bakhtiari garden panel area rug. This textured wool rug features an allover diamond lattice, each panel of which contains an image associated with a Persian garden, over different ground colors. Motifs include juniper trees, vases and a variety of flowers, in a classic Bakhtiari palette of burgundy, ivory, aubergine, coral, rose, vermillion and pale green. Compound borders include a herati main border featuring palmettes and meandering foliates over ivory. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
