A vintage Japanese ceramic Hotei figurine. This slipcast figure is made of red clay with a black finish. It depicts the Hotei, often called the ‘laughing Buddha’, holding a fan, his robes open to reveal a round belly and bare chest. A label on the reverse reads ‘Origin: Japan c. 1920.’
