A cross-stitch sampler, dated to the late 19th century. The piece includes the short poem, ‘To food and drink and some gay jest, / You will always be a welcome guest.’ The work is housed in a wood frame under glass.

Condition

- to fair; water stains to the wood backing; minor scuffing to the finish on the frame; discoloration to the fabric; minor fraying to the edges of the fabric; item is slightly loose within the frame.
