A soft ground etching on fine toned paper titled Baigneuse Assise (Woman Bathing, Seated) by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919), dated 1919. This print features a contemplative young woman with long, elegant hair rendered with soft linework. It is signed in plate to the lower right and contains a guard sheet with descriptive letterpress to the verso. It is presented matted and housed in a wooden frame with decorative gesso moulding behind acrylic glass.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir was born in Limoges, France, and is known for being one of the leading figures of French Impressionism. He moved to Paris at a young age, where he revealed remarkable drawing abilities. Renoir was immersed in the decorative arts industry, where he hand-painted china, fans, and signs inspired in the 18th-century French Rococo masters. During 1862, he pursued his artistic inclinations and became a part of the Atelier Gleyre, where he collaborated with his contemporaries Monet, Sisley, Bazille, Pissarro, and Cézanne. After integrating the group and exhibiting alongside the Impressionists. Renoir’s extensive work is part of many public collections including The Louvre, Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; and the National Gallery, London, among many others.

- toning, slight foxing, and billowing to paper; dust, accretions and minor scratches to acrylic glass; scratches and chipping to frame; there are gaps in the corners of the frame; print has been examined outside of the frame.
