Hand-Knotted Wool Nahavand Long Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted wool Nahavand long rug. The rug has been woven in an abrashed palette which includes ivory, azure, indigo, sky blue, buff, espresso, burnt orange, rust, and persimmon. A central lobed medallion is surrounded by a stylized vine and palmette pattern and various lobed flowers, birds, and animals. The compound border includes checked and carnation and meander guard bands while the unresolved primary border incorporates lozenges and hexagons infilled with floral and abstract motifs and bound by crenelations. The selvedges have been overcast and there is short fringe at each end. The rug is not marked.
