Chinese Silk Embroidered Cloud Collar

A handmade Chinese embroidered silk yun jian cloud collar (雲肩). This collar features a three-layered quatrefoil shape with curved lobes coming to four directional points. Each panel is decorated with trims, silver tone metal stud embellishment, and silk embroidery depicting floral motifs and, in the largest layer, pairs of traditionally-dressed figures in garden scenes. There is a circular neck opening to the center and slit through one of the lobes. It is presented mounted behind glass in a gold tone wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

- to Fair; some discoloration to piece; wear and pulled threads to edges of textile; edge wear and scratches to frame.
