A sterling silver flatware set by Reed & Barton. This is in the Ernest Meyers designed Francis I pattern, first introduced in 1907, which features ornate handles with foliate and fruit motifs. The eighty-one piece set includes two meat forks, thirteen salad forks, twelve dinner forks, eight oyster forks, three serving spoons, twenty teaspoons, a ladle, a jelly server, a shell sugar spoon, seven butter spreaders, and a master butter knife, all marked ‘Sterling’ along with the maker’s mark to the backs of the handles. They are presented with twelve dinner knives in two styles and a pie server that have stainless blades and sterling hollow handles. The set comes in a wooden flatware chest with brown felt-like interior lining. The total approximate weight, excluding dinner knives and pie server with stainless blades, is 96.325 ozt.
