A marquetry composition titled Traversing by artist Scott Chalfant. This piece uses inlaid pieces of different varieties of wood at a slight relief from one another to depict an outer space scene with a comet-like form rushing with tails of light through the galaxy, surrounded by planets and stars. It is signed to the lower left and has a tag to the verso with information on the piece and the wood types used in it. The piece is presented in a matching wood frame with a saw-tooth bracket to the verso for hanging.
