1810 John Lias Sterling Ice Tongs with Other Sterling and Silver Plate Tongs
Item Details
A collection of sterling silver and silver plate tongs. The collection features a pair of sterling silver ice tongs by John Lias of London, England; marked with a passant fineness mark, an 1810 letter T date mark, and a King George III duty mark. They are accompanied by four additional pairs of sterling silver by Frank M. Whiting & Co., Watson Company, and M.L. Reeder Co. The sterling tongs have a total approximate weight of 2.925 ozt, and are presented with two pairs of silver plate tongs of Italian and Swedish origin.
