1922 Rosenthal WWI Prussian Commemorative Porcelain Teacup and Saucer
Item Details
A 1922 World War One Prussian commemorative porcelain teacup and saucer by Rosenthal. Each white body is gilt decorated with encrusted laurel boughs, intersecting bands, and trim to the edges. The saucer is inscribed to the well “In Memory of a Great Age” (Erinnerung aus großer Zeit) with an iron cross and ‘1914/15’. The cup boasts the coat of arms of the German empire framed by a laurel wreath under beaded accents. It offers a pierced scroll handle which perches over the flared rim. Each piece bears a green underglaze mark to the underside indicating production by Rosenthal in 1922.
