A collection of books in volumes, including a 1916 publication of The Complete Works of James Whitcomb Riley in ten volumes; and a 1925 publication of The Outline of History by H.G. Wells in two volumes. The ten volumes each feature a burgundy cloth on board cover with gilt embossed lettering and design; the two volumes feature a green cloth on board cover with gilt embossed lettering and design. The Complete Works of James Whitcomb Riley was published in 1916 by Harper & Brothers Publishers and each volume is marked as a ‘Memorial Edition’ to the title pages as Riley (1849-1916) had passed away in 1916. Riley was known as the ‘Hoosier’ poet, having lived much of his life in Indiana and having a strong influence on the colloquial midwestern writing of the day. He is also known as a children’s author and is best remembered for his stories ‘Little Orphant Annie’ and ‘The Raggedy Man’. The Outline of History was published in 1925 by P.F. Collier & Son Company of New York.
