Towle "Fontana" Sterling Silver Flatware Set with Weighted Sterling Shakers

A sterling silver flatware set by Towle. This is in the Robert J. King designed Fontana pattern, first introduced in 1957, which features a shaped handle with scrolled edges. The fifty-five piece set includes twelve dinner forks, twelve salad forks, fourteen teaspoons, a sugar spoon, a ladle, a serving spoon,and a pierced serving spoon, all marked ‘Towle Sterling’ and ‘Fontana’ to the backs of the handles. They are presented with twelve dinner knives, and a butter knife that have stainless blades and sterling hollow handles. Also included is a pair of weighted sterling salt and pepper shakers with gadroon accents by Empire Silver Co. The set comes in a wooden flatware chest with brown felt-like interior lining. The total approximate weight, excluding knives with stainless blades and weighted shakers, is 54.885 ozt.
