Item Details

An antique hand-painted pine blanket chest. The piece features a protruding hinged lid over a case with front escutcheon, side iron bail handles, molded trim and bracket feet. It is painted in a robin egg blue field with boxed floral designs and monogram of ‘T. G. L.’ along with date ‘1828’. The interior reveals a lidded side storage box.

- wear to painted finish with losses throughout; wear, minor chips, some damage to wood consistent with age; handle to one side has one loose fastening with some damage; apparent beetle damage to some areas of wood; hinges appear to be antique replacements; scuffs and marks throughout consistent with age and use.
