Vintage Japanese Satsuma-Style Moriage Vase

Item Details

A vintage hand-painted Japanese moriage vase. This Satsuma-style vessel features a flat rim, slightly tapered neck, a pair of cast metal handles, spherical body, and pedestal base. The exterior is embellished with the image of a man and woman and hand decorated with raised geometric patterns in a polychrome palette of rust, black, cornflower blue, olive, and cranberry with gilded accents throughout. A label to the reverse reads ‘Made in Japan’.

Condition

- minor surface marks and scratches, light loss of painted finish and gilt work throughout, moderate crazing present.
