Chinese Soapstone Guanyin Figurine

Item Details

A Chinese carved soapstone of Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), the bodhisattva of compassion. The piece features a robed female figure with basket held aloft and overturned with floral and foliate details. The figurine rests on a carved grey soapstone base finished with four square feet. It retains portions of its ‘Made in China’ paper label to the underside.

Condition

- scratches; large chip out of one of the feet of the base.
