Chinese Embroidered Silk Robe Wall Hanging and Rank Badge Style Pillow Cover
Item Details
A pair of handmade Chinese silk embroidered pieces. The lot includes a pillow cover embroidered with mirrored images in the style of a Chinese military rank badge with a mythological animal in the center of a black ground surrounded by blue, white, and metal-wrapped threads in floral and cloud motifs with a foliate border around each vignette. There is a blue cotton backing that is marked ‘Made in China’. The larger piece features a four-panel hand-embroidered wall hanging constructed from a repurposed silk robe. The red ground features floral dragon ring medallions over choppy sea waves and a striped lower border. There is a floral border and floral horizontal panel across the top backed in black, and the piece is finished with a cotton backing and sleeve to the top for a hanging rod. It is unmarked.

- stains and discoloration throughout, notably to backing of pillow cover; embroidered borders need repair; pulled and broken stitches to rank badge pillow cover; wear to metallic threads.
