An antique African hand carved wooden head purchased in the 1970s from the Cincinnati Art Museum as part of the Julius Fleischmann Collection. The sculpture is in a dense dark wood with a depiction of a female with closed eyes, shown with an elongated oval head intricately carved in a diamond pattern with alternating diamonds in crosshatched textures. The head is supported by an integrated cylindrical neck and raised tapered base, also carved in a textured pattern. The original receipt is included.
