An abstract acrylic on composite wood board diptych painting titled Red / White / Black / Blue by contemporary American artist Jonas Raider. The Abstract Expressionist inspired work depicts a bold and expressive flow of overlapping lines, rounded shapes and paint splatters rendered in a palette of red, white, blue, and black. The painting is signed ‘Raider’ to the lower right margin of one board. It is presented unframed with hanging wire to verso of each panel.
The work is noted to have been painted in 2008 during the time of President Barack Obama’s election. From the artist’s statement: ‘Depicted are colors of the American Flag with the shade of black. This piece is a symbol of peace and unity not just for the United States but for the entire world. A symbol of the colors of our American flag plus black which symbolizes the unity of the world. A powerful painting of peace.’
