Late 19th-Century Emile Puiforcat Vermeil Sterling Silver Child's Place Setting

An antique vermeil sterling silver armorial child’s place setting by Emile Puiforcat; active from 1857 until 1897 in Paris, France. The set includes a fork, two spoons, a knife, a hollow handle, a cup, a footed cup, a napkin ring, and a rattle with a mother of pearl handle. They are decorated with a shield having a saltire in or on a field in gules; each section of the per saltire having a sheave of wheat and contained in ribbon gathered and bundled rods, Each piece is hallmarked and additionally marked with an octagonal Minerva’s head French sterling fineness mark. These pieces, excluding the handle, the rattle, and the knife, have a total approximate weight of 7.220 ozt and are presented in a fitted case.
