Hand-Knotted Pakistani Wool & Silk "Garden" Long Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Pakistani wool and silk ‘Garden’ long rug. This wool rug features a Turkmen-style garden-plan design in a palette of vivid scarlet, camel, rose, celadon and ivory with black highlights. It begins with four vertically arranged oblong lozenges, each featuring a garden plan with a heaxagonal center area in camel, rose and celadon, six cypress trees and geometric detail in black and ivory over a rich scarlet field. The field is framed by seven wraparound borders containing geometric repeating patterns, the primary border grounded in scarlet while minor borders are grounded in celadon or camel. These are flanked by an elem panel at the top and lower end of the rug, each featuring a diamond infinity pattern offset by the outer guard border, which is scarlet. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
