A limited edition lithograph on paper titled Woman and Cats by well-listed American artist Will Barnet (1911-2012). This work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right; it is numbered 41 out of an edition of 100 to the lower center, and titled to the lower left. Presented under glass, double-matted, it is housed in a silver-tone metal frame. A frame label is adhered to the verso.
Will Barnet attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where he studied with Philip Leslie Hale. He continued his studies at the Art Students League of New York with Stuart Davis and Charles Locke and was hired as the League’s official printer. Barnet was also employed as a graphic artist for the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project and he produced prints for José Clemente Orozco. His work has been collected by numerous institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others.
