Culver Military Academy Wool Blankets, Black Horse Troop 1955

A set of three wool blankets from the 1955 Black Horse Troop of Culver Military Academy. The collection includes two grey and one blue blanket, each embroidered with the red logo of Culver Academies. A note accompanying the blankets claims that the three blankets came from the Black Horse Troop of 1955. The college prepatory school, Culver Military Academy was founded in 1894 and became coeducational in 1971 with the addition of the Culver Girls Academy. The Black Horse Troop is one of the elite horsemanship troops for secondary students in the country and is often invited to the U.S. Presidential Inaugural parade.
