Hand-Knotted Persian Ahar Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Ahar wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of rust orange, indigo, ivory, ochre yellow, sage green, and sky blue. The curvilinear designed rust orange-colored field begins with a large eight-pointed star medallion with pendants. The field is densely patterned with flowering vines, serrated leaves, palmettes, and a number of blooms. Framing the floral themed field are ivory-grounded spandrels and a main leaf and blossom border with added Kurdish flower and boteh guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a knotted wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
