A vintage hand-knotted Persian area rug. This wool village rug features a medallion-and-vase design in a palette of ruby, cream, midnight blue, pink, chartreuse and aqua. It begins with a layered, floral medallion grounded in cream and midnight blue. The medallion rests on an open ruby field, the corners of which feature vases, flowers and palmettes. Framing the field are three borders, including a herati main border grounded in midnight blue and filled with palmettes, lancet leaves, split leaves and flowers. The inner guard border also features a herati pattern, over cream. Selvedges are overcast, ends finishing with cotton warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
