Hand-Knotted Persian Karaja Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Karaja carpet runner. This wool rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of ruby, sapphire, coral, celadon, rose and cream. It begins with a vertical row of alternating cruciform and hooked hexagonal medallions over a ruby field, which is filled with a variety of tribal-style geometric motifs. Framing the field are compound borders, including a running water pattern over rose and celadon and a geometric pattern over sapphire. Selvedges are overcast; ends finish with cotton warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
