A hand-knotted Persian Meshkin wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a muted palette of rose, navy blue, light blue and pale celadon on a neutral beige background. The rug features three central rectangular medallions, two in rose and the center one in navy blue, the medallions having chamfered corners and running dog borders, infilled with with geometrically shaped leaf, floral, and other motifs. The neutral background is also populated with various animal, bird and geometric forms. Framing the field is a main border in rose with blossoms and birds, with a pair of black, off white and rose meander guard borders, and minor checkered borders. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and an off white knotted wool warp fringe to the ends, as well as a label to the underside.
