A group of seven drawings on paper by listed artist Edgar Yaeger (American; 1904-1997). The works depict various landscapes rendered with gestural delineations a subtle shading. The drawings are portrayed in multiple mediums including Conté crayon, charcoal and graphite. The larger Conté crayon drawing includes illegible inscriptions to the lower margin. The compositions are presented unframed.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
