Item Details
A late 19th century New Haven Clock Company mantel clock. A gingerbread style oak wood clock with a dark mahogany finish that is circa 1890 and is known as a kitchen or Victorian parlor clock. The case has an oak bonnet with carved wheat bales accented with carved scrollwork and floral designs. Tapered side columns with a carved floral design that grace the top and curved cutout side columns on the base accent a glass front door with a reverse painted gilded floral design. Other features of the clock include a brass bezel surrounding a white metal dial with black Roman numerals, steel spade hands and two brass key arbors. The clock has an ornate brass pendulum and winding key, an 8-day time and strike movement and the clock stands on a plinth style wood base. The clock is labeled ‘New Haven Clock Company’ on the face and verso.
