A graphite drawing on paper by listed American artist Edgar Yaeger. This gestural figure study depicts a nude woman seated and leaning on a support draped with cloth. It is signed and dated 1938 to the lower center and presented unframed in a protective acetate sleeve.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
