Rookwood Tile and Ash Reciever
Item Details
A Rookwood tile and ash receiver. The Rookwood ash receiver advertises “Robert A. Cline Inc. Real Estate”. The soft green oval ashtray has crossed keys in the center with four indentations at the edge. The bottom carries the Rookwood symbol and is stamped “XLVIII (1948)’. Also included is a Rookwood art pottery square-shaped tile featuring Cincinnati’s Roebling Bridge. The piece is from Rookwood’s Commemorative Collection and showcases a green glaze. To the verso, it reads, “Roebling Bridge ‘No avenue in any of the large capitals of Europe could now compare in beauty of grandeur with that long vista which would be presented by the line of Vine Street on the one side, continued in a straight course by Scott Street on the opposite shore, and connected across the river through the imposing arches of the great towers of the suspension bridge.’ – John A. Roebling”. The tile is stamped with the Rookwood sympbol, MMIX (2011), and is marked with number “10039”. The tile was a part of the Vacospasm 2011 Conference held in Cincinnati, OH.
