Alan LeQuire Ceramic Sculpture
Item Details
Terracotta
A ceramic sculpture by American artist Alan LeQuire (born 1955). LeQuire is figurative sculptor and Nashville native, best known for his monumental sculptures ‘Athena’ and ‘Musica’. LeQuire received his MFA from the University of North Carolina and has spent a career focusing on capturing the human figure in clay. This piece is indicative of a more contemporary style of LeQuire’s depicting the bust of a woman built using stacked coils of clay that have been pressed, molded, and shaped using a wooden 2 × 4 and other clay tools into the figurative portrait. The piece features a stamped signature to the lower back, has a pale terracotta finish and sits upon a tall wooden pedestal.
