Hand-Knotted Persian Malayer Long Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Malayer long rug. This wool area rug features a medallion-and-corners design in an abrashed palette of red, midnight blue, cream, camel, rose and azure. It begins with an oblong medallion layered in azure, cream and red over a midnight blue field with quartered medallions in the corners. Filling these regions are rectilinear floral arabesques featuring palmettes, vines, blossoms and foliate elements. The field is framed by five floral borders, over red and camel backgrounds. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
