Hand-Knotted Persian Kashan Room Sized Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Kashan area rug. This wool rug features a palette of vermillion, crimson, violet-blue, tawny, ivory, pine green, deep indigo, and peach. It has a diamond-shaped stepped-edge medallion with attached pendants on a diamond lozenge that is patterned with a geometric herati motif that continues onto layered corner spandrels. Framing the field are floral and geometric guard borders with a main vine and blossom border over ivory. Selvedges are overcast, and the rug finishes with cotton warp fringe to either end. It is not labeled.
