An antique piece of mourning hair art created by an anonymous artist. The Victorian-style handmade work uses hair to depict a floral composition bordered with a laurel wreath-motif border. The piece is mounted over a cream backing, with the name ‘Marie’ depicted to the lower center. The work is presented under glass in an oval-shaped black wooden frame, fitted with a small hanging tab to the verso.

Condition

- to fair; minor discoloration and wear to composition and backing; faux flower petals are broken off at lower right side; wear, marks and nicks to frame, with abrasion to lower right; wear to frame’s backing paper; oxidation to hanging hardware.
