Vintage Washington Ledesma Pottery Vessel and Native American Inspired Vase

A vintage Washington Ledesma pottery vessel. Ledesma is a Latin American artist who resides in the United States, originally from Uruguay and inspired by Mexican and South American murals and artistry. This spherical shaped piece features a bold cerulean color incised to ivory, featuring stylized bird motifs, along with concentric circles. The underside is incised ‘W. Ledesma N.Y.C. 81’, as well as two symbols. There is also another vase offered also in a spherical shape, and offers a unique layered effect with black clay, and finished with red and ivory. It features a hunting scene, along with a a buffalo and another man in a Native American-style. The vase also has feather motifs around the rolled lip, and red stepped forms framing the top of the images. The underside of this piece is marked with an ‘M’ that has a feather through it.
