Hand-Knotted Caucasian Kazak Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Caucasian Kazak area rug. This rug features a palette of ochre, deep indigo, cream and taupe. The field contains a central string of memling guls with wolf’s mouth patterning (as protection for the flocks,) with additional guls in each corner and strung along the sides, with directional boteh between them. This field is surrounded by a mirrored floral border and saw-tooth guard borders. It is finished with overcast selvedges and a knotted warp fringe. There are no maker’s marks.
