An early 20th century Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print after Numazu: Twilight by Utagawa Hiroshige I (歌川広重, 1797–1858), from the series Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido (Hoeido), originally published in 1833. This print depicts pilgrims walking along the Kano River, one carrying a Tengu mask on his back, as they head towards the Konpira Shrine on Shikoku Island. This piece is inscribe with Japanese characters and stamped with red seals to the upper left. It is presented behind an ivory mat with a blue liner, under glass, in a white metal frame and is ready to hang with a wire.
Condition
- light toning to print and mat. Scratches and wear to frame.
