An antique hand-colored engraving on laid paper by French printmaker François Xavier Habermann (18th Century) titled Representation du Feu Terrible a Nouvelle Yorck (Representation of the Great Fire of New York). This print depicts the city of New York during the Great Fire on September 20-21st, 1776. Soldiers work in the streets to control civilians who are looting, escaping, and fleeing from the flames that engulf the surrounding buildings. There is a caption in both German and French to the lower margin and the title printed in reverse to the upper margin, with the artist’s name to the lower right. The print is presented unframed.

- unevenly cut edges to paper; surface wear to paper; discoloration in paper.
